In 2008, he pleaded guilty to wrongfully claiming £6,000 in housing benefits and received a two-year conditional discharge, along with £2,000 in court costs. He also repaid the benefits.

In 2019, HM Revenue and Customs seized £44,000 from Billy Collard under the Proceeds of Crime Act, though the money was returned after an appeal. Additionally, in 2015, he was held by police following an assault on his neighbour and the neighbour's daughter in a car park. Speaking to the Daily Mail in 2018 about the benefits fraud, Billy said: 'It is what it is. I did not even get a fine. Me and Adam are completely different.
