Emergency services were called to Langar Airfield in Nottinghamshire at 12:13 p.m. on Sunday, July 5, 2026, following reports of a skydiving incident. A 22-year-old woman was discovered in a neighboring field and pronounced dead at the scene. Her next of kin have been notified and are receiving support from specially trained officers.
Police Investigation Underway
Detective Inspector Rachel Mayfield of Nottinghamshire Police confirmed that officers are liaising with partner agencies to determine the full circumstances of the incident. “This was a tragic incident, and we are working with partners to understand what happened,” Mayfield said. “As our investigations continue at the scene, our thoughts are with the woman's family and everyone else who has been affected by this incident.”
No other injuries were reported. A file will be prepared for the coroner.
Emergency Response
A spokesperson for Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that crews from Bingham Fire Station were dispatched to assist at approximately 12:30 p.m. “Bingham Fire Station were called to an incident at Langar Airfield at 12:30 p.m. to assist police,” the spokesperson said. “We remain on scene however looks like we will be leaving shortly.”
The airfield remained the focal point of emergency activity for several hours while investigations continued.
