Tasmin Glass, the woman convicted of killing her boyfriend Steven Donaldson, is making another attempt to secure release. The 27-year-old from Kirriemuir in Angus will appear before the Parole Board for Scotland on August 12, marking her seventh appearance since receiving a ten-year sentence in 2019.
The victim's family was informed of the hearing on Friday, less than two weeks before the scheduled date. Steven's father, Bill, expressed the family's ongoing distress, saying: "For us, the nightmare continues. We just wonder how long this is going to go on for. She continues to show an extraordinary level of disrespect and disregard for the authorities along with a shocking level of arrogance."
Family's Demand for Full Sentence
Bill Donaldson emphasized that Glass has never shown remorse for the murder. He stated: "She has never shown any remorse at any stage for the murder of Steven. We, his family, remain fully of the opinion that she should serve the full length of her sentence. We strongly feel that she should complete the 10 year sentence imposed on her by the judge."
This latest bid comes after Glass violated her release conditions in May last year, just nine months after being granted freedom. She was returned to jail, though officials did not disclose the specific reasons for revoking her licence.
Background of the Crime
Glass and two male accomplices were jailed for the "savage and depraved" killing of Steven Donaldson in 2018. She lured her unborn baby's father to a remote location in Kirriemuir, where Steven Dickie and Callum Davidson, both 24 at the time, murdered him. Glass was convicted of culpable homicide and sentenced to ten years at a Young Offenders' Institute following a trial at the High Court in Edinburgh in May 2019.
Dickie and Davidson received life sentences with minimum punishment periods of 23 and 24 years respectively. In November 2019, Dickie took his own life in Perth Prison.
Parole Conditions Breached
After being banned from moving to the Angus area as part of her parole conditions, Glass relocated to East Lothian and was photographed near a primary school in Dunbar in October. Local residents expressed outrage, with one parent saying: "It's disgusting. She always looks so cold and chilling. She comes every day and stands smiling as if she doesn't have a care in the world. She's always around children after being involved in one of Scotland's most harrowing and horrific murders. I cannot believe she only served five years. She should have been made to stay inside the whole sentence."
The murder stemmed from a dispute over £1,000. Glass, then 20, had written off a car Steven bought for her and owed him money from the insurance payout. Instead of admitting she couldn't repay, she devised a deadly plan. During sentencing, Judge Lord Pentland described Glass as "manipulative and devious."
