
A significant police operation has been launched in Suffolk after an inmate absconded from Hollesley Bay open prison. The man, whose details have been circulated, is currently at large, prompting a public warning from authorities.
Suffolk Police have issued an urgent appeal, confirming the individual walked out of the Category D facility and failed to return. The force is actively searching for the man and has advised the public to exercise caution.
'We are advising members of the public not to approach him but to call 999 immediately if they see him,' a police spokesperson stated. The public are urged to quote reference CAD 118 of today's date (25th May) with any information.
Hollesley Bay, located near Woodbridge, is an open prison that typically houses inmates nearing the end of their sentences. Incidents of absconding, while rare, trigger immediate and coordinated responses from both prison authorities and the police.
The search is concentrated in the Suffolk area, but authorities have not ruled out that the individual could attempt to travel further afield. The police are following all known leads and utilising available resources to locate the man swiftly.
