Peter Murrell may have swapped luxury living for life behind bars, but his dinner menu at HMP Dumfries doesn't look like stereotypical prison grub. Curry and fajitas nights, pizza, pies, and burgers are all on offer, with a full fry-up at weekends.
Weekly Menu Revealed
Documents obtained by the Daily Record from the Scottish Prison Service detail the different choices available to prisoners at HMP Dumfries across the week. The menu includes a full breakfast with sausages, black pudding, potato scones, beans, eggs, and rolls, alongside vegetarian alternatives.
Sweet options include banoffee pie, ice cream, apple crumble, doughnuts, and biscuits.
Monday to Friday Offerings
Monday's tea features beef or vegetable chilli con carne with rice, and a vegetable Kiev, with yoghurt or fruit. Tuesday offers fish and roast tatties, cheese salad, or vegetable sausage with roast tatties, followed by banoffee pie.
Wednesday includes chicken or vegetable balti with rice and lentil dahl, with ice cream for dessert. Thursday brings chicken or veg fajitas with wedges and chilli dip, plus naan pepperoni or vegetable pizza with chips, and apple crumble. Saturday brunch features a full fry-up with Lorne sausage, black pudding, potato scone, beans, roll, and boiled egg, or a vegetarian alternative, with a healthy brunch option available. Tea includes bridie and chips or vegetable haggis and chips.
Sunday offers a similar brunch with link sausage, and tea includes chicken or vegetable burger with potatoes. The menu also includes healthy brunch options on both weekend days.
