New Outlander Guide Launched
A new tourism guide showcasing filming locations for the hit series Outlander has been released by tourism authorities. The guide, titled Scotland: The Home of Outlander, is part of a campaign by VisitScotland in association with Sony Pictures Television to mark the series' conclusion and celebrate its impact on Scottish tourism.
Stirling Spots Featured
The guide lists 48 locations familiar to fans, including Duncarron Medieval Village near Denny and Doune Castle. Doune Castle, which appears as Castle Leoch in the show, has experienced a 168% increase in visitor numbers since 2014. Overall visits to the featured locations grew from 2,138,398 in 2014 to 3,016,291 in 2025, a 41% rise.
Duncarron Medieval Village
Owned by The Clanranald Trust for Scotland, Duncarron has been used for other productions such as Netflix’s Norsemen and BBC docudramas. The Trust’s Combat International unit provided actors and historical expertise for Outlander. CEO Charlie Allan appeared in the prequel series Outlander: Blood of My Blood.
