Seven criminals from Merseyside were jailed over the past week for a combined total of 19 years and 11 months. Among them were a drug dealer who took over a terminally ill nan's home, a man who bit people in a pub, and a burglar who stared at his ex-girlfriend's mum in bed after breaking into her home.
Also locked up was a three-time convicted cannabis trafficker who boasted Rolex and Versace watches. Liverpool Crown Court heard that a "tenacious" shopkeeper fought back when a robber attempted to steal bottles of Jack Daniel's from her convenience store.
Drug dealer who took over vulnerable woman's home
Pedro Gomes, 24, of Heathfield Close in Formby, was described as a "prolific" heroin and crack cocaine dealer, using the pseudonym "Mitch" as he supplied up to £25,000 worth over around three months. He was jailed after police visited the home of a vulnerable woman who had fallen victim to "cuckooing", with more than £5,000 of class A substances stashed in her cupboard.
Gomes admitted being concerned in the supply of heroin and crack cocaine and possession of heroin and crack cocaine with intent to supply. Appearing via video link to HMP Liverpool, he was jailed for four years.
Shopkeeper fought back against robber
Kye Fox, 34, of St Matthews Grove in St Helens, had been drinking for days before he attended a store and tussled with an employee while attempting to steal bottles of Jack Daniel's whisky, despite having the money in his pocket to pay for it. This was his second robbery in five years, after he previously formed part of a gang who lured their victim to a supposed drug deal but instead bundled him into a car and took his cash at knifepoint.
Fox pleaded guilty to one count of robbery. Appearing via video link to HMP Liverpool wearing a grey body warmer over a navy blue t-shirt, he was jailed for four years and one month.
Drug dealer with Rolex and Versace watches
Paul Swale, 35, of no fixed address, was caught with a stash of cocaine and cannabis worth up to £180,000, along with Rolex and Versace watches and more than £50,000 in cash seized during a police raid. He admitted possession of cocaine and cannabis with intent to supply and possession of criminal property, and was jailed for three years and nine months.
His co-defendant Brian Bennett pleaded guilty to permitting a premises to be used for the supply of cocaine and cannabis, possession of criminal property and possession of a prohibited weapon in relation to a stun gun. He was handed a 15-month imprisonment suspended for two years with a rehabilitation activity requirement of up to 20 days.
Pub biter and burglar who watched nan sleep
Joshua Nolan, 22, of Green Lane in South Shields, smashed a pub window before biting customers who tried to restrain him during a drunken incident. He was sentenced to a total of two years behind bars.
Roy O'Neil, 27, of School Close in Moreton, woke a nan who found him standing beside her bed and staring at her. Ring doorbell camera footage posted to Facebook showed the incident was part of a spree of five attempted and successful burglaries over around two hours, during which he stole a handbag, Pandora bracelets and charms worth thousands of pounds and even his ex's child's clothes. O'Neil admitted burglary and four counts of attempted burglary, and was jailed for three years with a restraining order preventing him from contacting his ex-girlfriend and her mum for 10 years.
Cameron Ward, 20, of Sharples Crescent in Crosby, ranted "I've been set up" and branded his victim a "rat" as he was jailed. He repeatedly harassed his vulnerable victim before kicking his door down and breaking into his flat, weeks after being handed a suspended sentence. Ward admitted burglary and criminal damage, and was locked up for two years with a previous 28-day suspended sentence activated.
Paedophile jailed for sharing indecent images
Neil Campbell, 61, snapped secret photographs of schoolgirls standing at a bus stop and shared them with like-minded perverts. He lived opposite a primary school and was caught with nearly 500 pictures and videos showing children being sexually abused. Campbell pleaded guilty to distributing indecent images of children, possession of indecent images, three counts of making indecent images and possession of prohibited images. He was jailed for a total of 13 months.
