Manhunt Launched as Inmate Escapes HMP Sudbury

Police have launched a manhunt after a dangerous inmate escaped from HMP Sudbury in Derbyshire. Ethan Black, 36, was seen climbing the prison fence at around 8.15pm on December 17.

Black was serving an indeterminate sentence for grievous bodily harm, imposed at Warrington Crown Court in 2006. Indeterminate sentences are given to offenders deemed a danger to the public, with no fixed end date.

He is described as white, about 5ft 8ins tall, slim, with brown hair and blue eyes. He has the letters 'EFC' tattooed on his right arm. Police say he has links to Widnes, Dudley, Liverpool, Grimsby, and Hastings.

Members of the public are urged not to approach Black and to contact Derbyshire Constabulary via their website, Facebook page, or by calling 101. Alternatively, information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
