Police have launched a major manhunt for a convicted drugs kingpin who escaped from HMP Thorn Cross in Cheshire. Daniel Buckley, 37, was last seen at the prison in Appleton, Warrington, on Saturday morning, and officers are appealing for information to locate him.
Buckley is described as 5ft 10in tall, of medium build, with dark hair. He was last seen wearing a grey T-shirt, grey jacket, black joggers, grey Nike trainers and carrying a white shopping bag. He is believed to have links to the Manchester areas of Failsworth and Openshaw.
In January 2024, Buckley was handed a 16-year and four-month prison sentence for his leading role in an organised crime group. He pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply cocaine and amphetamine, money laundering, and possessing amphetamine with intent to supply.
Cheshire Police are urging anyone who sees Buckley not to approach him, but to call 999 immediately, quoting reference IML-2340086. Information can also be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their website.
