Family of Boy Thrown into Crocodile Enclosure Issues Statement

The family of a three-year-old boy who was allegedly thrown into a crocodile enclosure has released a statement, revealing their young son has had multiple surgeries since the incident.

Multiple Surgeries and Uncertain Recovery

In a statement issued to the public, the parents said: "We are extremely grateful for everyone’s generosity. We could never thank you enough for the support you have given our family in this horrible time. We have been living at the hospital for 2 weeks now and our son has undergone 5 surgeries."

The family added that their son is scheduled to undergo at least two more operations, including a nerve reconstruction in his arm. They described the past two weeks as "a very uncertain and unsettling time."

Unknown Extent of Injuries

The parents expressed uncertainty about the long-term impact: "This uncertainty remains as we still don’t know the extent of his feeling, movement and function in both of his arms, wrists and hands. This will only be identified after casts and bandages are able to be removed and he can begin his rehabilitation journey."

They noted that the rehabilitation process will not be short, and the full extent of the boy's recovery remains unknown.

Financial Strain and Gratitude for Donations

The family explained that both parents are currently away from work for an indefinite period. They have a newborn baby to care for, a mortgage to pay, and other expenses including car payments, food, and bills. Donations received so far have been used to cover these expenses, easing the financial pressure.

"Further donations will be used to support our son’s rehabilitation and to give back to the hospital who have helped us in many ways during this challenging time. Thank you," the statement concluded.
