Faizon Love, the actor who starred alongside Will Ferrell in the Christmas classic Elf, has been imprisoned following his arrest on two counts of contempt of court. The 58-year-old is currently being held in a Florida jail without the possibility of bail.
Arrest and Charges
Love was arrested on Tuesday, June 17, and subsequently charged with two counts of contempt of court, according to court documents. The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office released his mugshot shortly after the arrest, showing the actor with a scratchy beard, wearing an orange prisoner's outfit and looking hazily at the camera.
Role in Elf
Love rose to fame for his portrayal of a store clerk at Gimbel's in the 2003 holiday blockbuster Elf, starring Will Ferrell. His character was part of one of the film's most memorable scenes.
Legal Troubles
This is not Love's first run-in with the law. In 2017, he pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor for assaulting a car valet at Columbus International Airport in Ohio. The incident was caught on camera, resulting in a $500 fine and a suspended six-month jail sentence.
In 2024, Love was arrested on suspicion of felony assault in California after allegedly throwing a credit card machine at a hotel receptionist who refused to give him a room he had booked.
The current arrest is reportedly connected to a case involving a paternity test. Love, who previously lived in Glendale, California, is now being held in Tampa without bond.
