The Office for Product Safety & Standards has issued a "stop using immediately" warning for a children's toy sold on Amazon. The Craftplay Sand Art Bottles (10) have been recalled because the sand inside may be contaminated with asbestos, a banned substance that poses health risks even at low exposure levels. The products fail to meet the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011.
Immediate action required
Owners are advised to stop using the product immediately and keep it out of reach of children. Specific disposal and return instructions have been provided:
- If the sand is still in its packaging, place it in a heavy-duty plastic bag, double tape it securely, label it clearly, and store it in a secure location out of children's reach.
- If the sand has been used, clean up the area with wet cloths to avoid dust. Wear gloves and a mask. Double bag the sand, gloves, mask, and cloths.
- Keep children and others away from affected areas until cleaned.
- Return the product to the retailer for a full refund if possible.

Second recall: water bottle
Separately, a water bottle sold by Home Bargains has been recalled due to a choking hazard. The TJ Morris Toy Story water bottle has a spout that can detach, creating a small part that may obstruct a child's airway. This product does not meet the General Product Safety Regulations 2005. The Office for Product Safety & Standards advises stopping use immediately and returning it to Home Bargains for a refund.
