A young man was subjected to a horrific sexual assault in the shadow of the UK's seat of power, in a shocking breach of security that has left the capital reeling.
The brutal rape occurred in the heart of Westminster, just moments from the Houses of Parliament, in the middle of the afternoon. The attack took place on Sunday, 21st April, near the intersection of Derby Gate and Parliament Street – an area typically bustling with tourists, politicians, and armed police.
A Brazen Attack in a Secure Zone
Detectives from the Metropolitan Police's Specialist Crime Command have launched a full-scale investigation, describing the incident as deeply concerning. The victim, a man in his early twenties, is currently receiving specialist support from trained officers.
The assailant remains at large, and authorities are urgently appealing to the public for information. The proximity of the attack to one of the most heavily policed and monitored locations in the country raises serious questions.
Appeal for Witnesses
Investigators are particularly keen to speak with anyone who was in the area between 2:30 PM and 4:30 PM on that Sunday. They believe potential witnesses, including tourists and commuters, may hold vital information.
Detective Superintendent Jack Rowland emphasised the importance of public assistance, stating: "We are supporting the victim and doing all we can to investigate this awful incident. A dedicated team is working to gather evidence and track down the individual responsible."
