A five-year-old girl has been left with life-changing injuries after being attacked by a suspected XL bully dog in Greater Manchester. The incident occurred inside a property on Walnut Road in Partington, Trafford, on Sunday afternoon.
Emergency services were called at around 3.40pm. The girl was rushed to hospital with serious injuries, which were described as life-changing but not life-threatening. The dog was seized by police.
A 28-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of allowing a dog to be dangerously out of control. The man was also arrested on suspicion of child neglect. Due to previous police contact regarding the dog, a referral has been made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
In a separate incident, armed officers from Lancashire Constabulary attended an address in Blackpool on the same day after a woman in her 20s was bitten on the hand by a suspected XL bully. A man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of having a dog dangerously out of control and remains in custody.
