Queensland Police have launched a major investigation following the discovery of a woman's body in the northern Brisbane suburb of Taigum on Monday afternoon, in what authorities are treating as a suspicious death.
Emergency services were called to a residential property on Handford Road shortly after 3:30pm following reports of a sudden death. Upon arrival, officers discovered the deceased woman, whose identity and age have not yet been formally released to the public.
A significant crime scene has been established, with multiple police vehicles and forensic units visible throughout the quiet suburban street. Specialist officers could be seen conducting a meticulous examination of the property as the investigation continues.
"Police are investigating after the body of a woman was located at an address in Taigum this afternoon," a Queensland Police spokesperson confirmed. "The death is being treated as suspicious at this time."
Local residents expressed shock at the police activity in their typically peaceful neighbourhood. One neighbour, who wished to remain anonymous, described the area as "usually very quiet" and expressed concern about the tragic incident.
Police have cordoned off the area and are conducting door-to-door inquiries as they work to establish the circumstances surrounding the woman's death. The forensic examination of the property is expected to continue throughout the evening.
