North Wales Police have confirmed the discovery of a woman's body in the Menai Strait on Tuesday morning (August 18). The death is not being treated as suspicious.
Discovery and police statement
A spokesperson for North Wales Police said: "We are saddened to confirm that the body of a woman was discovered in the Menai Strait at 11.19am on August 18."
"The death is not being treated as suspicious, and the coroner has been informed. Our thoughts remain with the woman's family and loved ones."
Temporary road closure
Following the discovery, the A55 Britannia Bridge was temporarily closed while emergency services worked at the scene. Motorists were advised to avoid the area as long queues built.
The road was reopened at around 12.30pm.
