Police are working to identify a woman whose body was discovered in Stanley Park in Liverpool on Friday evening.
The discovery was made by a member of the public at around 5.25pm, according to the Liverpool Echo. Officers are working to establish her identity and inform her next of kin.
Investigation Underway
A cordon remains in place around the park while enquiries continue. Merseyside Police said the death is currently being treated as unexplained, with a Home Office post-mortem due to take place on Saturday to establish the cause.
Officers are also carrying out witness enquiries and examining CCTV footage as part of their investigation.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: “We can confirm officers are this evening, Friday 28 August, in Stanley Park in Liverpool, following the discovery of the body of a woman.
“We were contacted by a member of the public at around 5.25pm. Enquiries are ongoing to identify the woman and inform the next of kin. At this stage the death is being treated as unexplained.
“A Home Office postmortem will take place tomorrow, Saturday 29 August, to establish the cause of death.
“A cordon is in place around the park while the incident is being dealt with and CCTV and witness enquiries are being carried out.”
