An elderly woman suffered a bleed on the brain after an incident in a car park at Grand Junction Retail Park in Crewe, with police appealing for witnesses and video footage.
Incident outside Marks and Spencer
The incident occurred at around 3pm on Friday September 11 in the car park outside Marks and Spencer. An elderly couple had just returned to their vehicle, parked in a disabled bay. As the man was helping his disabled wife into the passenger seat, a car pulled up nearby and repeatedly sounded its horn.
According to the report, the driver gestured for the couple to move so they could access a vacant parking space beside them. The sudden confrontation is believed to have startled the couple.
Woman falls and strikes head
During the incident, the woman lost her balance, fell to the ground and struck her head. The driver then left the area without stopping. Several off-duty nurses who were nearby provided immediate assistance before the woman was taken to hospital.
Medical examinations later revealed she had suffered a bleed on the brain. She remains in hospital while enquiries continue.
Police appeal for witnesses
Cheshire Police are appealing for witnesses, as well as anyone with dashcam or other video footage that may have captured the incident. They are also asking the driver of the vehicle involved to come forward and speak to investigators.
