A woman from Norwich has expressed her outrage after a hairdresser allegedly cut off 14 inches of her hair, despite her request for a simple trim. Amanda Macintosh, 42, an NHS worker, visited the Crop Shop salon in Castle Meadow for a £20 wash, cut, and blow-dry on April 25. She claims that instead of the one or two inches she wanted, the stylist removed a significant length, leaving her devastated.
What Happened at the Salon
Ms Macintosh stated that she explicitly asked for a trim, as she loves her long hair. However, she only realized the extent of the cut after the stylist had finished washing her hair. She described seeing a 'massive pile of hair on the floor' and feeling anxious. The stylist allegedly turned her chair away from the mirror when she expressed concern. After leaving the salon, Ms Macintosh cried and immediately called to complain.
Salon's Response
The salon manager, Stuart Stott, described the incident as a 'misunderstanding' and offered Ms Macintosh a complimentary haircut. He noted that this is the only complaint they have received this year, despite serving around 100 customers daily. He questioned why Ms Macintosh did not speak up during the haircut if she was unhappy.
Ms Macintosh has since shared her experience on Facebook, receiving responses from others who claim to have had similar issues at the same salon. She said she now feels anxious about going to work with her hair down, as it was her 'comfort blanket.' She added that she rarely visits hairdressers and had her previous trim at the same salon a year ago.
