A 22-year-old woman has died following a skydiving incident near Langar Airfield in Nottinghamshire, police confirmed. Emergency services were called to the scene at around 12:13 p.m. on Sunday, 5 July 2026, after reports of a parachute accident. The woman was found in a field adjacent to the airfield and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police investigation underway
Nottinghamshire Police said the woman's family has been informed and is being supported by specially trained officers. No other individuals were injured in the incident. Detective Inspector Rachel Mayfield of Nottinghamshire Police stated: "This was a tragic incident, and we are working with partners to understand what happened. As our investigations continue at the scene, our thoughts are with the woman's family and everyone else who has been affected by this incident."
Coroner's report and witness appeal
A file will now be prepared for the coroner to determine the official cause of death. Police are urging anyone with additional information about the incident to contact them on 101, quoting incident number 306 of 5 July 2026. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities examining the circumstances leading to the fatal fall.
