Firefighters attempted to rescue a woman from a bungalow fire in Sheffield on Saturday night, but she sadly died at the scene. The blaze broke out at the property on Hardy Place in the Upperthorpe area at around 10.45pm.
Crews from Central and Rivelin fire stations responded to the incident and brought the fire under control by midnight. South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue confirmed the woman was brought out of the building but could not be saved.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is now underway, led by the fire service with support from South Yorkshire Police. No further details about the victim have been released at this time.
