A woman in her 30s has died following two crashes on the M4 in Berkshire on Wednesday evening. Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses after a white Mercedes 220 and a white Scania heavy goods vehicle collided on the busy motorway.
Fatal collision on westbound carriageway
The fatal incident occurred around 9pm on the westbound carriageway between J8/9 and J10. The driver of the Mercedes, a woman in her 30s, died at the scene, and her next of kin have been informed.
Tragically, a second crash involving a Kia Sorento then happened on the eastbound carriageway. Police confirmed that no arrests have been made yet as they appealed for information.
Police appeal for witnesses and dashcam footage
Investigating officer Detective Sergeant Lyndsey Blackaby of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: "Firstly, our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased at this extremely difficult time."
"We are appealing for anyone with information or witnesses who may have been at the scene and have not yet spoken to us, to please get in touch."
"I also ask any drivers who were in the area at the time and have dashcam footage to review it, as it may contain important information about the collision or the moments leading up to it."
