A 60-year-old French woman has died after becoming trapped by her car's automatic window in a tragic accident. Bernadette Delmotte was found deceased in her Fiat 500 in the village of Bissy-sur-Fley on 13 June.
According to reports, Ms Delmotte had been cleaning her car and forgotten to apply the handbrake. When the vehicle began to roll backwards, she leaned through an open window to stop it, inadvertently pressing the window control. The glass rose and trapped her neck, causing asphyxiation.
Friends who were expecting her for dinner became concerned when she did not arrive. After calls went unanswered, they went to her home and discovered her body. An autopsy confirmed death by asphyxiation, and the incident was ruled accidental.
Her brother, François Delmotte, expressed his disbelief and confusion. 'At first, even the police were confused. They were asking, "What the hell happened?" I didn't understand it either,' he said. He has written to Fiat to raise awareness but stated he is not seeking compensation.
