A woman in her 50s has died after emergency services, including an air ambulance, were called to a Tesco store on Silk Street in Rochdale on Saturday afternoon (November 7).
Incident at Silk Street store
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) confirmed they received a call raising concerns for the welfare of a woman inside the shop. Eyewitnesses described how she was initially attended to by staff before paramedics took over upon their arrival.
Shoppers reported being asked to vacate both the store and the car park to allow emergency services to manage the situation. It is believed that staff and management at the branch were on hand to assist throughout the unfolding incident.
Air ambulance and confirmation of death
Video footage circulating on social media captured an air ambulance touching down in the supermarket's car park.
Regrettably, despite the best efforts of those involved, the woman, who was in her 50s, could not be saved and passed away, a GMP spokesperson confirmed on Sunday afternoon, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Family notified
Her family have since been notified of her death.
When contacted by the Manchester Evening News on Saturday, a Tesco spokesperson declined to offer any comment regarding the incident.
