A woman in her 20s has died after falling from a south London tower block, just months after a family of three plunged to their deaths from the same building. The Metropolitan Police attended the incident in Elephant and Castle on Thursday morning following reports of a fall from height.
The woman was found unconscious at around 9.35am in Churchyard Row in Southwark. The London Ambulance Service was also called to the scene, but despite the efforts of emergency services, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say death not suspicious
Police have said the incident is not being treated as suspicious and that they are working to inform the woman's next-of-kin. No further details have been released about the circumstances of her death.
The death comes just months after a family of three lost their lives at the UNCLE tower building, believed to be the same high-rise block, although this has not yet been confirmed by authorities.
Family of three died in May
Aditi Vijay Paralkar, 46, Rakesh Narayan Pai, 47, and their nine-year-old son, Sid Pai Paralkar, all fell to their deaths from the UNCLE building in May. The family lived on the 36th floor of the 46-storey building.
It was reported at the time that the young boy was “seriously-ill” with kidney disease. According to the Daily Mail, he was partially disabled and suffered from learning difficulties.
Luxury block among tallest in capital
The UNCLE building in south London, known as Highpoint, is a luxury block of high-rise apartments and is among the tallest residential buildings in the capital.
