NSW police are investigating an incident in which an officer allegedly pushed a woman to the ground during an arrest outside a school in Bungendore on 22 July. The woman claims she suffered a fractured rib, severe concussion, and a cut to her ear.
A 35-second video circulating online appears to show the officer approaching the woman from behind and shoving her, causing her to fall and strike her head against a pole. The officer can be heard shouting, “keep the fuck away.”
The woman, who is Aboriginal, posted about the incident on social media, stating she was knocked out and required medical treatment. She intends to pursue a civil claim against police, according to her solicitor.
Police said they were called to the school after reports a 15-year-old boy was threatened. They allege the woman drove past, another boy threw a rock at her car, and she got out, leading to a confrontation. Police claim she became aggressive and was arrested after warnings.
The Aboriginal Legal Service condemned the alleged use of force, calling for robust oversight. The woman and a 15-year-old boy were charged with various offences and granted conditional bail.
