A 39-year-old woman from Hounslow, west London, has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man's body was discovered in a van in Leicester, more than 100 miles away.
Leicestershire Police found the body in a parked vehicle on Garden Street at around 5.30pm on Wednesday. The van is registered to an address in Hounslow. The woman was arrested on Friday and remains in police custody.
The victim has not yet been identified, and police are investigating the cause of death. The Metropolitan Police have taken over the investigation, and a crime scene has been established at a house in Sutton Dene, Hounslow.
Detective Chief Inspector Alex Gammampila, leading the investigation, said: “I’d like to thank Leicestershire Police for their initial enquiries, which led to a swift arrest. As we piece together the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident, we urge the public to come forward with any information, particularly if you recognise the van, or think you may have captured it on a doorbell or dashcam footage travelling to Leicester in the lead up to Wednesday, 27 May.”
