A 38-year-old woman and her one-year-old daughter have been found dead in their home in Logan, south of Brisbane, after a man believed to be the father was hit by a car nearby. Police discovered the bodies on Thursday morning following reports of an injured man covered in blood running along a footpath before being struck by a black utility vehicle about 300 metres from the family home.

Detective Superintendent Chris Ahearn confirmed both victims died from critical injuries caused by an edged weapon. The man, who sustained neck wounds, remains in a serious condition under police guard in hospital. Police believe the three individuals lived together as a family unit.

Witnesses alerted authorities after seeing the man running covered in blood. Evidence markers have been placed along the footpath, indicating a trail of blood leading from the house. No domestic violence orders were in place involving the couple, and police have stated there is no further threat to the community.
