Woman, 65, seriously injured after being hit by car in Ayrshire

A 65-year-old woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries after being struck by a car on the A70 near Cumnock in East Ayrshire on Friday morning.

Emergency services were called to Muirkirk Road at around 8.05am following reports of a serious crash involving a pedestrian and a white Range Rover Evoque.

The pedestrian, a 65-year-old woman, was taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries. No other injuries were reported.

Road closed for investigation

The road was closed to allow for investigations to take place and re-opened at 2.15pm.

Police are appealing for information following the incident.

Appeal for witnesses and dash-cam footage

Sergeant Brian Simpson said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances, and I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash and has yet to speak to officers to come forward.

“We know that motorists drove through the scene immediately after the crash and we would be keen to speak with them to review any dash-cam footage to see if it has captured anything that could assist with our investigation.”
