Winking Tube Predator Jailed: Teenager's Reign of Terror on London Underground
Winking Tube predator jailed for sexual assault spree

A shocking campaign of sexual assaults on the London Underground has been brought to an end with the jailing of a brazen teenager. Dzanel Deda, 19, targeted multiple women in a series of terrifying incidents, showing utter contempt for his victims and the law.

A Pattern of Predatory Behaviour

Deda's spree took place between November 2023 and January 2024 across the Tube network. His audacity knew no bounds; after one assault, he casually winked at his victim before nonchalantly walking away. This chilling act highlighted his complete lack of remorse.

British Transport Police (BTP) launched an investigation after linking the attacks. Detective Constane Harry Keene praised the victims' immense bravery, stating their evidence was "crucial in bringing Deda to justice".

The Hunt and Arrest

Using CCTV footage from across the transport network, BTP officers tracked Deda's movements and identified him. He was subsequently arrested and charged with multiple sexual offences.

He pleaded guilty to three counts of sexual assault and one count of trespassing on a railway track at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court. His dangerous actions also included walking along live tracks at Highbury & Islington station.

Justice Served at Sentence

At Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on 13th September, Deda was sentenced to a total of 26 weeks in a young offenders' institution. He was also placed on the Sex Offenders Register for seven years and handed a five-year restraining order.

DC Keene emphasised the force's zero-tolerance policy, adding: "Nobody should ever have to experience sexual harassment or assault on their journey... We will always take reports seriously and investigate them thoroughly."

This case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of reporting such incidents and the relentless work of the BTP to keep the travelling public safe.
