A 14-year-old boy has been left with serious injuries after being attacked by two dogs in the village of Potterne, Wiltshire. The incident occurred on Thursday evening at around 9.30pm, when the animals reportedly escaped from a property in Ryeleaze.
Emergency services, including armed police, were called to the scene to bring the dogs under control. Officers managed to secure the animals and transport them to secure kennels. The boy was taken to hospital for treatment; his injuries are not believed to be life-changing.
Wiltshire Police have identified the owner of the dogs and will be conducting interviews. The breed of the dogs has not yet been established. A statement from the force confirmed that an investigation is underway.
Devizes Neighbourhood Inspector Simon Garrett expressed concern for the victim and his family, acknowledging the distressing nature of the attack. He added that additional officers will be present in the area to provide reassurance to residents.
