Police have reportedly been stationed outside a cordoned-off house in Wavertree for two days. Readers first contacted the ECHO on September 1 asking why police officers had cordoned off a house on Bishopgate Street in Wavertree.
Scene described by residents
Pictures of the scene taken yesterday morning, Tuesday, show a cordon in place surrounding a terraced house, as a Merseyside Police officer stands on guard outside the property. The ECHO went to the scene that morning and spoke to residents living nearby, who reported hearing shouting earlier that day.
One person said: "I heard a lot of shouting, there was a fella with no top on, just his trousers and his shoes in his hands. We heard screaming at the door 'I want my money'. That was about 10am.
"I could then hear arguing and a lady crying. A fella then opened the door after he left and ran as fast as he could down the street, that's when a woman came out the front door shouting 'come back'."
Police approached for details
She then went next-door and knocked on the door asking the woman who lives there to call an ambulance. I don't know what she said to her but she closed the door and the woman then got a phone out her pocket, so she may have called police herself.
The witness continued: "I then nipped out and when I got back the police were here. I've been here 30 years and the place has gone down hill the last 20 years. I've seen murders, a kidnapping and a suspected rape."
