A British woman on holiday in Mallorca was dragged into a van and sexually assaulted as she walked back to her hotel, police have confirmed.
The incident occurred in the early hours of May 10 in Palma, the island's capital. The woman was approached by a van driver who grabbed her arm and forced her inside the vehicle, where she was assaulted.
Two witnesses in a car saw the abduction and chased the van. When the suspect stopped at red lights, one witness photographed the licence plate, leading to his arrest.
National Police arrested a man on suspicion of sexual assault. The case has been passed to the Family and Women's Care Unit (UFAM). The suspect has appeared before a judge in Palma.
No further details about the victim or how she escaped have been released.
