Merseyside Police has issued an urgent warning after burglars broke into a pharmacy in Stockbridge Village and escaped with a large quantity of drugs. The incident occurred at Care Pharmacy, located within The Croft shopping centre, in the early hours of Saturday, June 13.
Break-in Details
At approximately 4:55 am, officers were alerted to an alarm activation at the pharmacy. Upon arrival, they discovered that a substantial amount of medication had been stolen. Among the stolen drugs is Digoxin, a prescription-only medication used to manage certain heart conditions, including irregular heartbeats and heart failure.
Health Risks
Digoxin can have harmful and potentially life-threatening effects if taken incorrectly. Anyone who has taken the drug without a prescription is urged to call 999 immediately and visit their nearest Accident and Emergency department.
Police Investigation
CCTV and other inquiries are ongoing. Detective Inspector Yoseph Al-Ramadhan stated: “Primarily, we want the public to be aware of the dangers of Digoxin. If you have been offered this or any other stolen drugs, let us know immediately and do not ingest anything you have not had prescribed. I would also ask anyone who lives in the area and saw, heard, or captured anything to come forward as soon as possible as our work continues.”
