Two teenage boys have been taken to hospital after a stabbing in Prestwich. Greater Manchester Police (GMP) were called to reports of a stabbing on Whittaker Lane at around 5.40pm on Tuesday (September 22).
Emergency response and injuries
Emergency services rushed to the scene, with a large police and ambulance presence reported near the Royal Oak pub. An air ambulance was also pictured landing in Heaton Park shortly after 6pm. The injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing, the Manchester Evening News understands.
No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing. Officers have urged anyone with information to contact GMP. Crime Scene Investigators were seen arriving at the scene just after 8pm.
Cordon and transport disruption
A large police cordon remained in place at the scene on Tuesday evening, with drivers whose cars were parked behind the cordon unable to access their vehicles. Metrolink's Bury line has been suspended at Heaton Park station. The Bee Network says the tram stop has been closed in both directions since around 6.30pm, with passengers told to use Bowker Vale or Prestwich instead.

A spokesperson for GMP said: "Police were called around 5.40pm on Tuesday (22/09/26), to reports of a stabbing on Whittaker Lane, Prestwich. Emergency services attended and two teenage boys were taken to hospital. Enquiries are ongoing."
