Two teenagers have been arrested in connection with two robberies in Liverpool. The boys, aged 17 and 15, were detained by detectives investigating separate incidents in Old Swan and Croxteth.
Delivery rider attacked in Old Swan
The first robbery took place on St Oswalds Street, Old Swan, on Monday, September 21. A food delivery rider was approached by three males on a motorcycle who tried to steal his bike, leaving him with minor injuries. A passing motorist intervened, causing the suspects to flee.
Two of the suspects escaped on the motorcycle, while the third ran from the scene on foot. Social media footage widely shared this week appears to show two masked men kicking a delivery rider who had fallen from his bike, while a third masked man waited nearby on a motorcycle. The footage then shows a van driver getting out and chasing the suspects, after which two men ride away on the motorcycle and the third runs off.
Second robbery in Croxteth
The following day, Tuesday, September 22, a 15-year-old boy was threatened in Croxteth Hall Park before his electric bike was stolen.
Detectives from Operation Assure, Merseyside Police’s dedicated response to robbery offences, carried out enquiries into both incidents. Investigators identified lines of enquiry suggesting the same suspects may have been involved in both robberies.
Police have now arrested a 17-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy from the Liverpool area on suspicion of robbery, attempted robbery, theft of a motor vehicle and a number of driving offences. Both remain in police custody and enquiries are ongoing.

Detective Sergeant Mark Pedder said: “Robbery offences can have a significant and lasting impact on victims. Whether someone is going about their daily work or simply travelling home, nobody should have to fear being threatened, assaulted or having their property taken from them.
“Through Operation Assure and Operation Gears, we are taking robust action to identify and arrest those involved in robbery and the criminal use of bikes and scooters. We are determined to prevent these offences from happening, bring offenders to justice and protect our communities.
