Two men have been stabbed after a fight broke out in an alleyway in Oldham. Violence erupted on Bridgewater Street at around 8.15pm on Friday evening (September 25). The disturbance broke out on the alleyway that leads to St Stephen Street.
Two men arrested after hospital treatment
Both men suffered stab wounds amid the violent scenes, with one taken to hospital. The other man turned up at The Royal Oldham Hospital himself with knife injuries. Both were then arrested, a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said.
Both remain in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Enquiries are continuing into the incident. No further details on the men involved have been released at this stage.
Cordon placed across the alleyway
On Friday evening, a cordon was put in place across a stretch of the alleyway. Investigations were carried out on the scene for several hours. Pictures showed a large police presence in the area. A Tactical Aid Unit van was pictured stationed on Bridgewater Street as officers worked on the scene.
In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "Officers were called the reports of a stabbing on Bridgewater Street at 8.15pm last night (25/09/26). Officers located one man with stab wounds at the scene and another man presented himself at Oldham Hospital with stab wounds."
"Both men have been arrested. Both remain in hospital with non-life threatening as enquiries continue."
