Two men involved in an incident in Felling that was caught on video have been discharged from hospital, Northumbria Police confirmed. The altercation, which was captured in footage circulating online, led to two arrests on Wednesday.

While on patrol in Gateshead, police were flagged down by a member of the public who alerted them to the ongoing situation. Just after 4:30 PM, the two men were taken into custody and sent to hospital for treatment of what were described as serious injuries.
Police Statement
In a statement released yesterday, police confirmed that no knives were found at the scene. The men are believed to know each other, and a full investigation has been launched. Now, it has been confirmed that the two men are no longer in hospital but remain in police custody.
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: "We’re aware of a video circulating online showing two men involved in an altercation in the Felling area of Gateshead this afternoon. Our officers were on scene just after 4:30 PM having been flagged down by a member of the public with the incident ongoing in the street. As a result, two men have been arrested and are currently in police custody at hospital. They are both being treated for serious injuries. While enquiries are at an early stage, we believe the men were already known to one another prior to the report. Our officers have also confirmed no knives were located at the scene. A full investigation has been launched to establish the circumstances surrounding the events, however we would like to reassure the public we do not believe there is or has been any risk to the wider public. We remain in the area to conduct enquiries and anyone with concerns is asked to get in touch or speak to one of our officers on duty or send us a direct message."
