Incident Overview
Two men have tragically died after entering the sea to rescue two children who were in difficulty at Seaton Carew beach in Hartlepool. Emergency services were called to the scene at approximately 3:45 PM on Sunday, July 12, 2026.
Rescue Attempt
According to Cleveland Police, the two men went into the water to assist the children. Both children were safely brought to shore and taken to hospital for precautionary checks. The men, however, were retrieved from the water by the RNLI and pronounced dead shortly after, despite medical efforts.
