Two charged after Kensington McDonald's attack

A man and a schoolboy have been charged after a man was attacked at McDonald's in Kensington. Officers were called to the branch at around 9.15pm on Sunday, August 16, following reports that a man in his 20s had been assaulted. The victim, who suffered injuries to his head and body, was taken to hospital for assessment.

Charges and court appearance

Following enquiries, two people were arrested and taken to a police station for questioning. Valeri Aleksiev, 30, of Windsor Road, Tuebrook, has been charged with Section 18 wounding with intent. A 15-year-old boy from Liverpool was charged with attempted Section 18 wounding and possessing an offensive weapon (baseball bat) in a public place. Both are due to appear in court today, Tuesday, August 18.

Appeal for witnesses

Detective Inspector Jemma Berry said: "This will have been a concerning incident to witness, and the victim sustained extensive injuries. We think there will have been a lot of people in the vicinity who witnessed what happened, and have yet to come forward. Please do so and we will assess all information provided. Although two people have been charged, your account, CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage could prove vital in piecing together the circumstances. Please refrain from posting information on social media and come to us directly."
