Two men have been arrested after a serious assault in a Bootle park. Merseyside Police were called to North Park at around 11.40pm on September 26 following a report that an 18-year-old man had been assaulted by a group of men at the back of Bootle Leisure Centre.
Victim hospitalised with serious injuries
The victim sustained serious injuries to his abdomen and head and is in hospital receiving treatment. Two 18-year-old men, from Norris Green and Clubmoor, have been arrested on suspicion of Section 18 assault and remain in police custody for questioning.
When the ECHO visited the park this morning, an area was cordoned off, with a police car parked next to it. Inside the cordon was a picnic table covered in detritus, including an empty McDonald's bag, half-drunk cups of drink and bottles of alcohol strewn on the floor.
Police appeal for information
Superintendent Col Rooney said: "This was a serious, unprovoked and attack on a member of the public and such violence will not be tolerated on our streets."
"Although we have made an arrest I am appealing to anyone who has information on the incident to please contact us."
"I also urge people who were in the area at that time to check your CCTV and dashcam footage to see if it has captured any footage, no matter how small, as any information may help with the investigation."
