Twitch star Duke Dennis, whose real name is Denzel Shaquille Dennis, was arrested on Saturday at the Shops at Rivercenter in San Antonio, Texas, after playing hide-and-seek with friends following the mall's closure. Police responded to a disturbance call around 10pm and found Dennis and his group causing disruption throughout the area, despite warnings from mall security to leave.
According to a police report, Dennis verbally and physically refused to comply with police instructions. When an officer told him to put his hands behind his back, the 31-year-old jumped back and ran away. Unverified social media footage appears to show Dennis being handcuffed as fellow streamer Kai Cenat watched from an upper floor.
Dennis was charged with criminal trespass and evading arrest. He was released on Sunday after posting a $1,000 bond for each charge, according to public records. On Instagram, he wrote: "Officially on vacation, need suggestions on where to go...See y’all later."
Another individual, Lavoune Mark Clarke, 40, was also arrested for pushing an officer during the incident, causing the policeman to injure his hand. Clarke posted a $5,000 bond on Monday.
Dennis is a member of the AMP collective, which was in Texas throughout July for a 30-day summer-themed streaming marathon. The group stayed part of that time at the San Antonio home of former NBA star Tony Parker.
