A mother pushing her twin sons in a buggy on a trip to the shops has been left with serious injuries after a hit and run driver struck them, resulting in the deaths of both toddlers.
The incident occurred on Friday, July 11, in Albion, Maine. Mollie Egold, 33, was walking along Hussey Hill Road at around 5.12pm when a white 2016 Hyundai Veloster, allegedly driven by Benjamin Lancaster, 44, struck the family from behind.
One of the twins, Bradley, was pronounced dead at the scene, while his brother Noah was taken to hospital in serious condition. Days later, Noah was declared brain dead and removed from life support. A GoFundMe page confirmed: 'Noah tested for the 3rd consecutive day to be brain dead on 7/15 and was taken off life support. He is with Bradley in Heaven.'
Mollie was airlifted to hospital with multiple broken bones and has undergone two surgeries. She remains in stable condition. Lancaster was arrested and charged with multiple counts including operating under the influence causing death and leaving the scene of an accident causing death.
Maine State Police are appealing for any video footage or surveillance from the area between 5pm and 5.15pm on the day. Anyone with information is urged to contact Sgt. Garret Booth.
