Fifteen-month-old twin girls have died from dehydration after being found lifeless in their beds in Beuvrages, northern France. Their parents have been taken into police custody.

The tragedy occurred in Beuvrages, near Valenciennes in the Nord department. Four other children in the household—aged three, four, five, and six—were also suffering from dehydration. One sibling remains in critical condition after being airlifted to hospital.
According to RTL, the parents discovered the twins deceased in bed, reportedly in a state of rigor mortis. The couple was transported to Valenciennes police station, and their residence was cordoned off for investigation.
Legal and Medical Response
Authorities are investigating the case as "deprivation of care resulting in the death of a minor under 15 years of age," according to the Daily Star. The Valenciennes public prosecutor confirmed the twins were found "lifeless in their respective beds" in a statement on June 29.
An autopsy is scheduled for June 30 to determine the exact cause of death. The prosecutor is "exploring in particular the possibility of dehydration due to the high temperature recorded."
