An 83-year-old man who died following a fall on a bus has been remembered as a "larger-than-life personality" by his family.
John McGuirk, from Croxteth, Merseyside, was the sole passenger on the bus at the Liverpool One bus station on Saturday 3 October, when he was injured after falling at around 12.55pm. He died on 10 October.
Investigation ongoing
An investigation into his death remains ongoing by Merseyside Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, and a 65-year-old man is currently assisting with enquiries.
In a tribute released by the police, his family said: "John was a much-loved brother to his late brother Tommy and sister Lena, a loving uncle to Sonia and Donna, a proud great-uncle to Faye and Hazel, and a dear friend to many."
Life and character
His family added: "John was a true character, full of life, who could talk to absolutely anyone. He spent many years working in pubs across Liverpool before becoming a familiar face at his kiosk at Liverpool Lime Street Station. You could never keep John quiet for long, and wherever he went, he was sure to know someone. He loved travelling, meeting people and making memories, leaving a lasting impression on so many lives."
They continued: "Behind that larger-than-life personality was a man with a huge heart, who dedicated so much of his life to caring for his beloved brother Tommy."
Family's loss
"We have lost John far too soon, in the most heartbreaking of circumstances. His absence will be felt deeply by his family, friends and all those whose lives he touched. Liverpool has lost a familiar face, and we have lost someone irreplaceable."
"John will be remembered for his warmth, his stories, his unmistakable character and the countless memories he leaves behind. He will be forever loved and sadly missed but never forgotten."
