Trespassers on a railway line are causing severe disruption on a busy Welsh route, with Transport for Wales (TfW) services between Bridgend and Swansea affected. The incident has taken place at Briton Ferry, meaning services may be cancelled in both directions while British Transport Police are on the line dealing with the situation.
Delays and cancellations expected
TfW said services may be delayed by up to 45 minutes, with the incident expected to last until 5pm and disruption to services expected until 7pm. The train provider apologised for the disruption caused to journeys.
Alternative road transport arranged
TfW has arranged limited road transport to Swansea, Carmarthen, and Bridgend, provided by Cymru Coaches, Teulu Travel, Gower Mini Travel, and Glyn's, to assist customers in completing journeys where possible at no extra cost until 8pm. The provider warned that road transport will take longer than rail services and advised passengers to allow extra time.
Compensation available
Passengers whose trains are delayed or cancelled, arriving at their destination station more than 15 minutes later than scheduled, can claim compensation through TfW's delay repay scheme. British Transport Police has been contacted for comment.
