Emergency services were called to a Travelodge hotel on a UK seafront on Thursday evening following an incident. Numerous images and videos shared on social media show two fire engines attending the South Parade hotel in Skegness. Initial reports surfaced shortly after 8pm that an incident had occurred.
Car collision reported
Photographs posted online appeared to show a car had collided with the hotel's wall. However, this remained unconfirmed by emergency services or hotel management. No injuries were reported. Hotel guests stated online that the building was evacuated.
One guest said: "[We went] out for dinner at 6.30pm to come back to the Travelodge at 8pm to find it evacuated and sirens going off. Police, ambulance, and fire engines there."
"Someone had driven their car through the wall and fire exit."
Road closure and cordon
South Parade was shut as fire crews were photographed at the Travelodge. However, it seems the closure was connected to scheduled Lincolnshire County Council roadworks on South Parade, rather than being prompted by the emergency response.
Photographs from the location show a fire cordon was established in the hotel's car park. Emergency personnel can be seen operating around the building.
Hotel background
The Travelodge launched in September 2025 with 80 rooms across six storeys, plus a top-floor bar and restaurant. The contentious development plans were branded the 'wrong thing in the wrong place' by rival hoteliers in the area.
