A school has issued a heartfelt tribute to a 16-year-old girl who tragically passed away just days after becoming unwell. Lily Petts, a student at Newcastle Academy in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire, died following a sudden brain bleed.
According to a GoFundMe page established to support her funeral costs, Lily suffered a brain haemorrhage on April 30 and died shortly thereafter while receiving care at Royal Stoke University Hospital.
Newcastle Academy described Lily as a 'much-loved' member of their school community, praising her as 'kind, eloquent, and truly bright'. In a statement, the school extended its 'thoughts, prayers and deepest sympathies' to Lily's family and friends, as reported by Stoke-on-Trent Live.

Newcastle Academy said: 'It is with deep sadness that we share the devastating news of the passing of Lily Petts, a much-loved Year 11 student within our school family.'
