A two-year-old boy is in a critical condition in hospital after falling from a house window in Tameside, Greater Manchester. Emergency services were called to Buttermere Road in Ashton-under-Lyne at around 5:40 pm on Saturday, 23 May 2026, following reports that a child had fallen from a window.
Emergency Response
Police, paramedics, and an air ambulance were dispatched to the scene. The air ambulance landed on the grounds of a nearby church. The toddler was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he remains fighting for his life.
Investigation Underway
Greater Manchester Police have stated that the incident is not being treated as suspicious, and no arrests have been made. Officers are now investigating the circumstances that led to the fall. It is not yet known which floor the child fell from, but Buttermere Road is a suburban street with mostly two-storey homes. A three-storey flat block is located at the eastern end of the road, closer to the church where the air ambulance landed.
A police spokesperson said: 'At around 5:40 pm on Saturday 23 May 2026, we were called to reports of a child falling from a window of a house on Buttermere Road in Ashton-under-Lyne in Tameside. The child - a two-year-old boy - was taken to hospital with injuries that are described as life-threatening. No arrests have been made, and investigations are ongoing.'
