Police deployed tasers before two people were arrested in an incident outside a Toby Carvery restaurant in Chadderton on Friday evening. Emergency services attended the restaurant on Chadderton Park, Oldham, on Friday, August 28, after a number of police cars and an ambulance were spotted outside, witnesses said.
Vehicle stop leads to arrest
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) has confirmed that a man and a woman have been arrested and remain in custody. Officers noticed a vehicle driving erratically and conducted a vehicle stop at 7.45pm on Friday evening.
After approaching and speaking to the driver, police said he became "aggressive", which led officers to deploy their taser. A man was seen running from police officers before being tasered in the car park, according to reports.
Arrests and charges
Officers searched the vehicle before the man who was driving was arrested on suspicion of assaulting two officers, possession with intent to supply class B, and child neglect. A woman, a passenger, was also arrested on suspicion of child neglect.
The restaurant was closed for a short period of time after the incident. The pair remain in police custody for questioning.
Greater Manchester Police said in a statement: "At 7.45pm on Friday 28 August, officers conducted a vehicle stop after observing vehicle driving in an erratic manner."
"Officers spoke to the driver, who then became aggressive and a taser was deployed. Following a search of the vehicle, a man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of assaulting two officers, possession with intent to supply class B, and child neglect. A woman, a passenger, was also arrested on suspicion of child neglect. They remain in custody for questioning."
